Verify a Discovery Bank statement PDF

A client has shared a certified Discovery Bank statement from the app. Check whether the PDF shows signs of editing the eye cannot see before it goes on file. The same checks run on every PDF, whichever bank issued it.

How Discovery Bank clients get and send a statement

Discovery Bank statements live in the banking app. A client taps More, then Statements, picks the account and the month. Discovery Bank says statements load monthly and the client gets a notification when a new one is ready (Discovery Bank: managing your accounts).

When a client needs a statement for an official purpose, the app has a “Get a certified copy” option. The certified copy can then be shared, saved or printed from the phone. That is the version to ask for.

Because the share step happens on the phone, the file often reaches you through WhatsApp or email, straight from the client’s phone. Ask for the shared PDF, not a screenshot of the statement screen.

If the Discovery Bank PDF asks for a password

  • Discovery Bank does not publish a statement password rule on a page we could verify, so we do not state one. If a password is needed, the message the file came with or Discovery Bank’s help pages explain it.
  • A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be checked here. A PDF that opens without one is checked normally.
  • Do not ask the client to remove a password for you. Ask them to tap “Get a certified copy” again and share a copy that opens without a password.
  • Never ask for the client’s Discovery app login, PIN or biometrics. The statement is all you need.

Why a certified copy still needs a closer look

The word “certified” on a statement tells you what the client asked the app for. It does not protect the file after that: once the file is on a phone or a laptop, it is an ordinary PDF, like any other file on that device.

An edit made to that PDF leaves no trace a reader can see. The layout holds, the certification wording stays in place, and a changed amount looks like every other amount. A file check shows signs of editing the eye cannot see.

Discovery Bank’s certified copy and a file check

Discovery Bank’s certified copy is the bank’s own answer to “I need a statement for an official purpose”. Ask for it rather than an ordinary monthly statement.

We did not find a public Discovery Bank service that lets a third party confirm a statement. If you have doubts about one, contact Discovery Bank. Atomara is not connected to Discovery Bank and cannot see its records, so a clean report never confirms who issued a file.

What a file check adds is a look at the PDF you actually hold: whether that file shows signs of editing since it was created.

Check the PDF you were sent

Upload the file exactly as you received it. The result appears on screen in seconds, and your first 3 checks are free once you confirm your email.

Sent a proof of payment rather than a statement? Check it before you release the goods.

Discovery Bank statements: questions

What is a certified copy of a Discovery Bank statement?

It is the version a client gets by tapping “Get a certified copy” on a statement in the Discovery Bank app. It can be shared, saved or printed from there. Ask for it when you need a statement for an official purpose.

Does “certified” mean the statement cannot have been changed?

No. It describes how the copy was requested from the bank. Once shared, it is a PDF like any other. A file check looks at whether that PDF shows signs of editing.

The client sent a screenshot of the Discovery app. Will that do?

A screenshot cannot be uploaded here: only PDFs up to 10 MB are accepted. Ask the client to share the certified copy as a PDF instead.

Do you check Discovery Bank statements differently?

No. Atomara holds no bank templates and is not connected to Discovery Bank. The same checks run on every PDF, whichever bank issued it.

Atomara is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Discovery Bank. The name Discovery Bank is used only to describe the format of the document.
