Verify a Nedbank bank statement PDF
You have been sent a Nedbank statement with an e-confirm stamp. Check whether the PDF shows signs of editing the eye cannot see before it goes into the file. The same checks run on every PDF, whichever bank issued it.
How Nedbank clients get and send a statement
In the Nedbank Money app, a client goes to More, then Statements and documents, then Statements, picks the account and the month, and taps the download arrow. Nedbank Online Banking offers the same. Nedbank’s help centre describes how to download statements.
Nedbank says statements for the last three months are free, and charges R11 for each statement older than three months (as of 22/09/2026, Nedbank: access bank statements online). So if you ask for six months of history, the applicant may pay for part of it. Asking for three recent months costs them nothing.
A statement downloaded this way carries an e-confirm stamp, which Nedbank says can be used for any official purpose. The applicant usually saves the file to their phone and forwards it to you by email or WhatsApp.
If the Nedbank PDF asks for a password
- Nedbank does not publish a statement password rule on a page we could verify, so we do not state one. If the statement came by email, the covering email or Nedbank’s help centre explains the password.
- We cannot check a file that needs a password to open. A statement that opens without one is checked normally, even if it cannot be edited or printed.
- Do not ask the applicant to remove a password for you. Ask them to download the statement again from the Money app or Online Banking and send a copy that opens without a password.
- Never ask for Money app or Online Banking login details. The statement is all you need.
Why an e-confirm stamp is not something you can check by eye
A stamp on a PDF is part of the page. You can see that it is there. You cannot see, by looking, whether the figures around it are the ones the bank printed.
An edit made to a PDF on a computer does not leave marks a person can spot on screen or on paper. That is why a stamped statement and a file check work well together: the stamp tells you where the statement is meant to have come from, and the file check shows signs of editing the eye cannot see.
Nedbank’s e-confirm stamp and a file check
Nedbank’s e-confirm stamp marks a statement as one produced for official use. Ask for a stamped statement downloaded from the Money app or Online Banking, rather than an older statement the applicant happens to have saved.
We found no public Nedbank service that lets a third party look up a statement. Atomara is not connected to Nedbank and cannot see Nedbank’s records, so our report never confirms that Nedbank issued a statement. It tells you whether the PDF you received shows signs of editing.
If the report finds signs of editing on a stamped statement, do not decide on the stamp alone. Ask the applicant for a fresh download, or contact Nedbank.
Check the PDF you were sent
Upload the file exactly as you received it. The result appears on screen in seconds, and your first 3 checks are free once you confirm your email.
Sent a proof of payment rather than a statement? Check it before you release the goods.
Nedbank statements: questions
Does the e-confirm stamp mean the statement has not been changed?
The stamp marks a statement produced through Nedbank’s channels for official use. It does not show whether the PDF was changed after it left the bank. A file check looks at that.
How many months of Nedbank statements should I ask for?
That depends on your own policy. Note that Nedbank says the last three months are free and charges for older statements, so a request for a longer history costs the applicant money.
Can I check a Nedbank statement the applicant printed and scanned?
Yes, if the scan is saved as a PDF. It gets a report without a score, because a picture cannot show which document it was taken from. The downloaded PDF is always the better file to ask for.
Do you use a Nedbank template?
No. Atomara holds no bank templates and is not connected to Nedbank. The same checks run on every PDF, whichever bank issued it.
